Carp Fishing Tackle Overview: The MAP Carptek Reel
Contrary to my assumptions, carp do not originally come from either the UK or Europe, either. As it turns out, around 10,000 years ago, the fish actually could be found first in the Caspian Sea in the central regions of Asia. At some point, the carp moved into China and elsewhere in the Far East. Carp appeared in Europe about 8000 years ago, and were brought by the Romans into Italy and other regions they dominated, but not the UK. After the fall of Rome and the rise of Christianity, the carp developed into a domesticated food source, and spread exponentially throughout Europe and the UK. It doesn’t matter how we came to have carp here, I’m just happy they’re here! I love to go and grab my carp fishing tackle, and heading out to my favourite fishing locale. The MAP Carptek reel is what I generally choose when I want the right fishing gear. Here’s why I like this reel so much.
Carp Fishing Tackle: Important Highlights of the MAP Carptek Reel
I’ve always been partial to MAP reels because of their high quality. Plus, given the piece of these reels, there are numerous additions with the reel. You can get a front or rear drag reel for approximately £30, which comes in handy because I love to use drag to catch a carp. Thanks to the micro adjustable drag, you can precisely match your line to the drag. The freespin reels have both cost efficiency and quality performance levels.
Carp Fishing Tackle: More Details On the MAP Carptek Reel
This reel’s exceptionally smooth operation comes from 9 + 1 ball bearings. It has a double handle, and a rubberised paint finish to resist corrosion and damage. The spool is built from a tough, yet light alloy and has low friction, which is a very nice feature. The gear ratio is 5.2:1. In addition, it includes an oversized main gear, balanced rotor, and multi-stop anti-reverse. For extra value, the reel comes with 2 spare spools. Every Carptek reel has a machined alloy line roller that ensures super smooth line retrieval. All these features converge to make the MAP Carptek reel a high-performing reel with an exceptionally affordable price.
Carp Fishing Tackle: Closing Opinions on the MAP Carptek Reel
Many features can be had with this MAP reel. It is really responsive, while also being very slim. Because it is versatile, it makes for great carp fishing tackle when using commercial fisheries as well as rivers. With this Carptek reel, you’ll find many top-quality fittings associated with MAP, as well as an anti-lock 1K woven carbon fibre blank. You can be assured that 1K fibre (used extensively within the cycling industry) is a rare, yet lightweight and durable fibre. This Carptek reel can withstand hook lengths of 2 to 4lb, and lines from 2.5 to 5lb.
My MAP Carptek reel is one piece of carp fishing tackle that I’m pleased to recommended without hesitation.
