The Historical Background of Polish Immigrants in the U.S.

The requirement for Polish translation in North America stems back to some of the initial settlements. This post discusses how the Polish left Europe, where the Poles are concentrated and why the Polish tongue is important for virtually every language translation business today.

Officials at Seattle Japanese Translation companies claim that at this time, an estimated 8.78 million people of Polish descent live in the United States, making Polish residents the seventh-greatest cultural group in the land. Almost all of the Poles who settled North America showed up between 1865 and 1918, a period when countless immigrants from European countries settled in North America. In that period, it is estimated that more than 2 million people of Polish ancestry entered the U.S..

It's tough to approximate the number of Poles who came to America in that interval considering that in those days the nation of Poland hadn't been established. In those days, Miami German Translation consultants say that Polish immigrants were observed by the U.S. Census as men and women that spoke the Polish tongue and followed the Roman Catholic faith. But some Poles didn't suit that profile given that they practiced the Jewish faith.

The initial Polish immigrants to the states arrived in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607. In the start of the 1700s, several hundred Poles who converted from Catholicism to the Quaker religion arrived at the Pennsylvania colony which had been set up by Quaker head William Penn. The first whole community comprised of Poles was set up in 1854 on the plains south of San Antonio. The community was referred to as Panna Maria. The initial key wave of Polish immigration delivered 400,000 Poles to the U.S.A by 1860.

Most of these Polish men and women reached America all alone or in small household units. They settled in American towns and cities of the Northeast and Midwest. In the last years of the 19th century, Poles joined the surge of Europeans moving into the U.S. from eastern and southern Europe. Along with these immigrants were more than 2,000,000 people of Polish ancestry who reached the country from different countries of Europe, like the regions of their homeland under foreign influence.
